MLM is Dead – Here is Why
Whether you are involved in a MLM company or not, it is hard to escape the ball and chain judgment that comes with being involved in such a system. Whatever your take is on it, you can't escape the essential bad reputation it's gotten recently.
From the outsider's point of view, MLM equates to a pyramid scheme, a scam, a way for a select few people to make tons of money off of the hordes of suckers in their downline. As for the people in their downline? Well … typically, it's Mickey Mouse, chickenscratch paychecks that can barely cover monthly expenses.
And this doesn't even include the tremendous amounts of work, frustration, convincing, and selling – "showing the plan" as it's called, that comes with joining an MLM.
It's estimated that 90% or more of people hate selling. An even higher percentage hate to be sold to. No wonder why most network marketers and MLM producers fail! They are being told to "approach everyone within 3 feet." SHOW THE PLAN! Make a list of 200 people.
This is the equivalent of verbal spam.
I know from experience. I've joined countless MLM companies. You name it, I've joined it. They chant "show the plan, show the plan" every Thursday in those dingy hotel recruiting meetings. And who wouldn't rather be at home watching 24 than in a room full of reluctant, tight-lipped strangers as the "double-diamond" speaker attempts to convince everyone of the benefits of their package?
Guess what? Their systems may be great in theory, and for a select few, they are ideal. However, for the masses, they are generally unappealing for the reasons below:
- Most MLM companies are spread too far and thin. They've been around a long time and many of them have garnered bad reputations or have become saturated. Their marketing message doesn't match the typical results members get. I won't name any big names – you do the research.
- People aren't looking for the best pill in the universe. There are THOUSANDS of those. They are looking for freedom. But MLM companies don't necessarily want you to think that. They want you to think their pill / potion / lotion / motion on the ocean is the best in the universe because YOU are a customer to them, too.
- Who really wants to bother their friends and family with a plan you yourself don't really believe in deep down? "Is this one of THOSE things?" You know you've heard this exact phrase. When you get over their skepticism (if you're lucky), then you have to face the doubt. Then you have to face the convincing. Then … it's a struggle, a totally uphill battle.
- MLM and attrition are best friends. What is attrition? In the context of MLM, it is the consistent and regular loss of your downline. It wears away over time, erodes. As soon as you sign up one, two leave. This can be highly discouraging, especially someone new to the company.
- Babysitting adult children. This is in tandem with # 4 and # 7 below. Many people who come into an MLM have this stubborn sense of entitlement, as if it should all be done for them. Almost zero resourcefulness or fortitude. You find yourself constantly holding their hands, wasting your time, energy, focus, and bottom line.
- It's hype. The "overnight" income claims made by people in the industry leave out crucial information – such as how long it took for the income itself to become an overnight phenomenon. Granted, many "opportunities" in network marketing use hype tactics, but MLM is especially keen on it.
- MLM salesletters typically prey on your lust for money. This is bad for two reasons. It creates unrealistic expectations, especially when salesletters read "Overnight success" or $ 80,000 in 30 days. Secondly, it targets "get rich quick" type people, people who want something for nothing and are unwilling to put forth the work required to become lucrative.
- Ever notice how all of the MLM companies essentially sound the same? The vitamin / beverage / compensation plan that will change the industry. The phenomenal support team and training. The generous commissions if you recruit just 3 people. The mission statements. The motivational success stories and testimonials. All the same!
If you've noticed just a few of the things I've talked about above, then you'll start to realize that MLM is typically a huge effort, hard struggle, and paltry results.
If you've been involved in an MLM and have suffered the above …
If you are sick of all the hype, barebones paychecks, headaches of recruiting and losing, then there is a solution.
It's called "Get Paid Now." (GPN)
GPN is modeled on the theory that you should be paid TODAY for your efforts, not cheesebit paychecks in 6 months when you've recruited 30 people (half of whom have left). GPN is about creating massive commissions TODAY where it would take you months, even years, to accomplish the same thing in an MLM. When you adopt GPN, you gain immediate control, immediate cashflow, immediate RESULTS you had been lusting after in your MLM. GPN means you don't have to suffer anymore financially. You have taken control and can enjoy a peace of mind.
